Interpol-wanted German fugitive arrested in Casablanca airport

Police at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca arrested Saturday a 35-year-old German national of Kosovar origin wanted internationally by German authorities for arson and international drug trafficking.

The suspect was intercepted immediately after landing when an Interpol database check revealed an active international arrest warrant issued by the NCB in Wiesbaden, Germany.

German authorities seek the suspect for his alleged involvement in smuggling a shipment of cannabis resin (Chira) internationally, as well as committing intentional arson on a vehicle linked to criminal dispute resolution.

Following instructions from the public prosecution, the suspect was placed under extradition procedures. Interpol Rabat has notified German authorities to finalize his transfer back to Germany.

The operation highlights international security efforts to track down fugitives tied to cross-border crime.
