The representatives of the five nuclear States (USA, Russia, China, UK & France) held lately a confidential meeting in Casablanca within the frame of the continued consultation between the five superpowers on several issues related to global peace and stability.
The secret meeting was disclosed by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov in a statement to Russian news agency. He said dialogue between the Big 5 continues despite growing political and military tensions on the international scene, noting that these technical consultations focus on some specific of issues without giving further details.
However, the ongoing talks between the five permanent members of the UN Security Council fail to produce concrete measures that help reduce international tensions, added the veteran Russian diplomat.
He blamed the current instability in the world to the “military and political turmoil” exacerbated by the mistrust and mounting tension between the major global powers. This, he said, undermines the efforts to reduce the threats posed by nuclear weapons, citing in this regard the war against Iran.
According to some analysts, the decision of the five nuclear powers to meet discreetly in Morocco shows the Kingdom’s credibility and status on the international scene as a land of dialogue and consensus.
In the current escalating security and geopolitical challenges facing various regions of the world, Morocco stands out as a trusted partner for hosting critical international events aimed at bringing together belligerents to resolve their disputes.
