Sweden Thanks Morocco for Capturing Wanted Criminal & Drug Dealer

Sweden’s authorities have announced the arrest of a 27-year-old Swedish citizen in Morocco at their request. The man was captured Monday at Ibn Battuta Airport in Tangier, said Sweden News Agency TT, citing the National police of this Nordic country.

“The Moroccan police have done a really good job here”, says Anders Wiberg, Head of the international unit at Sweden’s National Police (NOA).

The identity of the man nabbed in Morocco has not been disclosed. He is accused of large-scale drug smuggling operations and attempted aggravated extortion. He is believed to be the leader of a violent criminal network based in Sweden.

His arrest demonstrates Morocco’s cooperation and coordination with international security agencies in the combat against drug trafficking and transnational crimes.

During the 93rd General Assembly of Interpol held in Marrakesh, participants lauded Morocco’s growing status and role in the international security apparatus.

Morocco is a key international partner in Interpol’s efforts against drug trafficking, acting as a strategic hub for cross-border security cooperation. The North African Kingdom operates an Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) in Rabat, which serves as the primary link between Moroccan law enforcement and the global police network.
