Morocco Exports Its Green Energy Park Model to Côte d’Ivoire

Morocco is sharing its experience of Green Energy Park, a solar energy testing, research and training platform, with Côte d’Ivoire. The Moroccan solar energy research platform is located in the green town of Benguerir. It was developed by the Institut de Recherche en Energie Solaire et Energies Nouvelles (IRESEN) with the support of the Ministry of Energy and the OCP Group.

Built on an 8-hectare site, the Green Energy Park includes several laboratories within solar photovoltaic and solar thermal areas. A similar platform has been established in Yamoussoukro to advance solar energy research in Africa.

“The Green Energy Park Morocco–Côte d’Ivoire” has been launched by the Moroccan Institute for Research in Solar Energy & New Energies (IRESEN), Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), Green Energy Park Morocco and the Houphouët-Boigny National Polytechnic Institute.

Its inauguration ceremony was marked by the presence of Ivorian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and representatives of Moroccan Ministry of Energy Transition & Sustainable Development, founding institutions and academic partners.

“The Green Energy Park Morocco–Côte d’Ivoire” is tasked with conducting applied research, focusing on technological innovation and training in solar technologies. It sets a model of South-South scientific and technological cooperation.
