Rabat & Paris Agree on Roadmap for Cooperation in Justice

Morocco and France signed on Monday in Rabat an action plan for judicial cooperation, one of the pillars of the strategic and multidimensional partnership set between the two countries.

The 2026-2028 plan was inked by Moroccan minister of Justice Abdelatif Ouahbi and French peer Gérald Darmanin. It enables the two countries to establish structured cooperation, based on the exchange of expertise, the sharing of experiences and the support of major reforms undertaken by their judicial systems

The cooperation axes include support of modernization of judicial administration, capacity building of human resources, the exchange of experiences on legislative regulations and joint participation in international events serving the two countries interests.

During the signing ceremony, Ouahbi highlighted the importance granted by Morocco to advancing its cooperation ties with France in all areas, particularly in the field of justice, a key lever for good governance and the rule of law.

For his part, Mr. Darmanin said Moroccan-French relations are based on a solid model partnership, political convergence and concrete cooperation in several strategic sectors.

Judicial cooperation fosters institutional confidence, while respecting national specificities of each country, added the French official.

This initiative is part of the continuity of institutional cooperation between the Ministries of Justice of the two countries in accordance with the previously signed agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

This partnership reflects the firm commitment of Rabat and Paris to continue building cooperation based on trust and mutual respect, making justice one of the pillars of bilateral cooperation, in the service of stability, development and the rule of law at the national and international levels.
