Morocco Deploys Advanced Security Infrastructure for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

Morocco’s National Security Directorate (DGSN) has implemented a comprehensive high-technology security strategy across host cities preparing for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The proactive approach integrates cutting-edge technologies with optimized operational capabilities to guarantee absolute security throughout the continental football championship.
An intelligent, extensive video surveillance system has been deployed in major host cities including Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakesh, and Tangier. The network combines fixed and mobile cameras operating through centralized digital platforms enabling real-time situation monitoring. Authorities allocated 6,000 mobile cameras covering 75 priority sites, particularly high-traffic corridors, consolidating prevention, intervention responsiveness, and deterrence capabilities.
Sports venues received systematic equipment including dedicated police stations and command centers, ensuring informed operations management inside stadiums and rigorous law enforcement addressing any public order disruptions. Specialized units underwent reinforcement through anti-gang team creation in Marrakesh and Fez, canine and equestrian unit development, and sixteen intervention team deployments supported by drones.
Vehicle fleet modernization accelerated with 1,025 acquisitions encompassing cars, motorcycles, and high-technology utility vehicles. Reflecting inclusive modernity, visual identity for 5,000 fleet vehicles now integrates Amazigh language. Authorities distributed 790 electronic neutralizers—tasers—to regional commands and the National Judicial Police Brigade, perfecting intervention arsenals.
These comprehensive measures illustrate DGSN’s determination to establish urban security models simultaneously performant, respectful, and aligned with major international event requirements. The deployment positions Morocco to demonstrate security management excellence while hosting one of Africa’s premier sporting competitions, setting benchmarks for future continental championships requiring sophisticated crowd control and threat prevention across multiple venues simultaneously.
