Morocco’s 2024 legal cannabis harvest rises to over 4000 tons

Morocco produced 4082 tons of legal cannabis in 2024, from some 300 kilograms last year, as the number of permits to farmers grows, the cannabis regulator ANRAC said.

Moroccan local strain or the Beldia dominated production with 2,786 tons, while the rest of the cannabis originated from imported seeds.

The Beldia strain ANRAC has a low thc and requires less water compared to imported seeds.

Permits reached 3056 this year, compared with 430 last year, the agency said in its annual review.

Morocco legalized the cultivation of cannabis for medicine and industry use in 2021 and ANRAC was created in 2022.
