UNDP supports Libya achieve public finance reform, digitization project

The Minister of Finance for the Government of National Unity (GNU), Khalid Al-Mabrouk, met with Sophie Kemkhadze, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Libya, to discuss strengthening collaboration on completing the public finance reform project and advancing financial digitization in Libya.

Talks focused on enhancing cooperation in medium- and short-term financial planning to support sustainable development across Libya, the Libyan Ministry said in a statement.

During the meeting, Al-Mabrouk highlighted the Ministry’s role in driving sustainable development and the challenges it faces in efficiently providing financial services to public treasury-funded entities. This includes timely disbursement of government sector salaries and preparing the state’s draft budget proposal.

He emphasized the need for more frequent meetings to boost joint efforts in achieving sustainable development goals.

Kemkhadze reaffirmed the program’s commitment to providing support and resolving challenges that hinder Libya’s progress toward sustainable development, in line with the aspirations of the Libyan people.
