_President Mohamed Ould Cheikh sent a message of solidarity to President Assimi Goïta of Mali

On Sunday August 25, President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani sent a message of solidarity to President Assimi Goïta of Mali in response to the recent devastating floods in Mali.
President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani has written that it is ‘‘with deep sorrow, I have been following the recent floods that have caused significant human and material losses in our sister Republic of Mali. On behalf of myself, the people, and the government of Mauritania, I extend our heartfelt solidarity and support during this challenging time.
I pray to Allah, the Almighty, to grant mercy and forgiveness to those who have passed away and wish a swift recovery to the injured. In this time of national disaster, please be assured that we stand ready to assist in any way we can to alleviate the suffering of the Malian people.

Since June, heavy rains have been falling in Sahelian countries including Mali, causing river levels to rise and flooding.
