Tunisia detains three Sub-Saharans following stabbing to death of one Tunisian

Three Sub-Saharans illegally living in Tunisia have been arrested after the death of 38-year old Tunisian man by stabbing in the governorate of Sfax.
The stabbing according to Sfax 1 Court occurred last Monday in the commune of Sekyet Eddeyer of Tunisia’s second city. The deceased was reportedly attacked by the three men in the backdrop of several days of tension between a group of Sub-Saharan migrants and some Tunisians in the city.
Reports argue that clashes occurred on Sunday between residents in the city and some illegal migrants. The two sides traded names and hauled missiles at one another until police intervention with tear gas.
Several people were injured in the showdown. Police also arrested dozens of people. 34 Sub-Saharans were also arrested for illegal entry and sojourn in Tunisia. Tunisia is used as a transit by thousands of migrants willing to reach Europe’s southern coasts.
In reaction to Sunday incidents, country leader Kais Saied ordered the ministry of Interior to reinforce the rule of law and order in Sfax. He reportedly indicated that Tunisia will never be used as the coast guard of other countries, transit zone or place of residence for asylum-seekers, and will not accept illegal residence and non-compliance with its laws. He also argued that there are organized gangs that the State has a duty to dismantle, and all the evidence points to the fact that what’s happening in Sfax is not normal.
