Senegal appoints first female top army general
Senegalese President Macky Sall Tuesday made Fatou Fall, a medical Colonel, the country’s first female army general, announced Defense Minister Sidiki Kaba.
Fatou Fall is graduate from Université Cheikh Anta Diop and got enlisted in the army in 1985. She also graduated from Université d’Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) where she studied hepatology and gastroenterology.
She later rose to the rank of professor and expert in hepatology and gastroenterology in 2012 after she graduated from Ecole du Val-de-Grâce, in Paris. She is currently the head of hepatology and gastroenterology service at Dakar’s main hospital. She is also member of Senegalese Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (SOSEGH) and of the African Society of Hepatology and Gastroenterology and the French Society of Gastroenterology.
