Tunisia waives COVID19 vaccine passport, PCR test for foreign travelers

Tunisia’s Health ministry announced Thursday the decision to scrap requirement for COVID19 vaccine passport and PCR test for travelers visiting the country as infections continue to dwindle down at home and on the international front.

The decision came as the north African country reported Tuesday 0 case of COVID-19-related death. During the weekly report, the ministry said 81 contaminations were recorded between 21 and 27 November, accounting for 5.91 per cent of contamination rate.

Since Tunisia reported in March 2020 the first case of COVID-19 contamination, 29 268 people have died in connection with the pandemic, while 1.14 million people have however suffered from the respiratory disease.

The Thursday decision is expected to boost arrivals as the country counts on the tourism industry to return to before the pandemic level.

The tourism industry prior the pandemic was the second contributor to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
