Islamic state group (ISIS) claims responsibility for stabbing attack in Sousse

Global terror group, Islamic state group (ISIS) has claimed responsibility of Sunday stabbing attack in Sousse, Tunisia, in which one agent of the National Guards force was killed.

Two agents of the National Guard were attacked Sunday at Akouda, in the coastal city of Sousse in a stabbing spree. One of them died while the other was seriously wounded.

The security forces subsequently were involved in a gunfire battle with the assailants, killing three of them.

The interior ministry Monday announced the arrest of seven people including the wife of one of the attackers and two siblings of another assailant from Makther, in the governorate of Siliana, while 43 people have been interrogated in connection with the Sunday attack, according to the National Guards spokesman Houcem Eddine Jebabli.

ISIS said Monday on its media arm, Amaq, that “fighters” had carried out the Sousse attack.

It is not the first time the terror group is claiming responsibility for an attack in the North African country, which has since 2015 witnessed sporadic terror attacks.
