Royal Air Maroc ‘African Airline of the Year’- African Airline Association says

The African Airlines Association (AfRAA) awarded two of its prestigious awards to Morocco’s Royal Air Maroc, which was celebrated as “African Airlines of the Year.”

The Moroccan flag carrier received two awards in the categories of “global operations” and “best improved results in 2018.”

It is worth mentioning that RAM received this awards despite the negative impact it has suffered due to the grounding of Boeing’s 737 MAX which disrupted the company’s expansion plan.

But the recent announcement by Boeing that its 737 Max could resume flying again offers a boon for the Moroccan airline which is considering a codeshare with US airlines as well as a direct flight to Beijing.

Commenting on the recent international recognition, RAM’s leadership expressed pride at the distinction awarded by professional air transport experts.

Ethiopian Airlines, which has shone in continental award for numerous years, missed out at AFRAA event while Kenyan Airways was celebrated for its remarkable contribution to connectivity through opening up the highest number of African routes in 2018.

Headquartered in Kenya, AFRAA was established in 1968 to achieve a sustainable, interconnected and affordable Air Transport industry in Africa where African Airlines become key players and drivers to African economic development.
