Five Moroccan Women Taking Part in US TechWomen Program
Five Moroccan women are taking part in the US program 2016 of TechWomen, an Initiative of the State Department aiming to strengthen relations between Washington and MENA countries.
The Moroccan women are Lamiae Benmakhlouf (Deputy Manager/ Moroccan Information Technopark Company), Fatima Zahra El Bouzidi (Key Account Manager/Société Maghrébine de Monétique S2M), Meryam Benjelloun Dakhama (3D Animator/Ubisoft), Maha Echa Chefaa (Program Manager/Enactus Morocco) and Hind Khyati (Head of Customer Marketing, Nokia)
They were selected among 2300 worldwide applicants for the US program taking place from Sept.11 to Oct.17. A total of 90 women leaders from 20 countries are benefiting from this year TechWomen program, which seeks to empower, connect, and support the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The program provides participants opportunity to advance their careers, pursue their dreams, and become role models for women and girls in their communities.
TechWomen brings emerging women leaders in STEM from Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East together with their professional counterparts in the United States for a mentorship and exchange program.
This initiative offers women access to networks, resources, and knowledge to empower them to reach their full potential. During the five-week program, participants engage in project-based mentorships at leading companies in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, participate in professional development workshops and networking events, and travel to Washington D.C. for targeted meetings and special events to conclude the program.
TechWomen, launched in 2011, supports the United States’ global commitment toward advancing the rights and participation of women and girls around the world by enabling them to reach their full potential in the tech industry.
TechWomen is managed by the Center for Women’s Leadership Initiatives (WLI) which provides opportunities for women worldwide to participate in cutting-edge training, professional development and exchange programs, and pursue higher education.
Through WLI’s programs, women develop and join networks of peers, mentors, and experts, and serve as effective leaders in the public and private sectors around the world.
This program supports women to become leaders in their communities, fields, and sectors.
