On the occasion of Eid Al Mawlid Annabawi, commemorated in Morocco on Tuesday Aug. 25, corresponding to 12 Rabii-I 1448 of the Hegira calendar, King Mohammed VI has granted pardon to 634 individuals convicted by various courts of the Kingdom, the Ministry of Justice announced in a statement.
The Ministry of Justice unveiled the list of the beneficiaries of the royal pardon, who are either detained or serving a suspended sentence.
The list includes 15 individuals who had been convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism.
The Royal pardon to these 15 detainees, convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism, came after they had officially expressed their commitment to the principles and sacred values of the Nation and national institutions, and after they revised their ideological orientations, and rejected extremism and terrorism, the Ministry of Justice said, noting that some of these inmates benefited from pardon over their remaining prison terms, while others had their prison terms reduced.
The list of the beneficiaries of the royal pardon includes inmates who were
granted pardon over their prison sentences or remaining prison terms. Some convicts saw their fines cancelled, while others benefited from both a pardon over their prison terms and fines.
The King usually grants free pardon to inmates and convicts on religious and national holidays.
