Passengers passing through Moroccan airports are spending markedly less time at border control in 2026. In the first half of the year, average passport control time at departure stood at 3.6 minutes, down 24 percent from the same period in 2025, while arrival processing fell to 9.6 minutes, a 22 percent improvement, according to the latest indicators published by Airports of Morocco.
The gains were most pronounced at Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport, the kingdom’s principal aviation hub. Arrival controls there now take an average of 5.4 minutes, down from nearly 12 minutes a year earlier, a 54 percent improvement, while departure processing time was cut to 2.25 minutes from around 7.5 minutes in the first half of 2025, a 70 percent reduction.
At Marrakech-Menara, the kingdom’s second-busiest airport, arrival controls now average 6.86 minutes, down 16 percent, while departure processing fell to 5.09 minutes, an improvement of 22.5 percent compared with the previous year. Tangier recorded a 52 percent improvement, with arrival wait times cut to 11.93 minutes.
Fes airport posted one of the network’s best results, with departure processing down to just 1.53 minutes, while Agadir maintained an average arrival time of under ten minutes. Airports of Morocco attributed the improvements to the mobilization of the entire airport control chain, notably the General Directorate of National Security and the Interior Ministry, whose actions strengthened and streamlined border checks while maintaining a high level of security.
The results form part of the Airports 2030 strategy, which places passenger experience at the center of the transformation of national airport infrastructure. Airports of Morocco said it aims to position the kingdom’s airports as regional benchmarks for service quality and operational efficiency.
