AFCON Morocco 2025: Forward Brahim Diaz Wins Top Scorer Award, Bono Earns Best Goalkeeper Award

Morocco’s forward Brahim Diaz earned the best goalscorer award of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) organized by Morocco from December 21, 2025 through January 18, 2026,
won by Senegal following their victory in the final against Morocco.

The trophy was handed to Diaz, who topped the goalscoring chart with five goals, by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, during the closing ceremony chaired over by Prince Moulay Rachid.

Yassine Bono was named Best Goalkeeper after conceding only two goals throughout this AFCON edition, including one in the final. The award was presented to him by Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

Morocco’s national team also received the Fair Play trophy at the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Senegalese forward Sadio Mané was honored with the Best Player award for his outstanding performance in this tournament.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe handed over the CAF flag to the countries that will co-host the 2027 edition, namely Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Before the kickoff of the final match, a final tribute, marked by gratitude, unity, and celebration, was paid to the AFCON Morocco 2025 tournament that brought together an entire continent and conquered the whole world.

The artistic shows reflected the history of the tournament through Africa’s eyes, Africa’s cultural wealth and the vibrant energy of its youth. A voice rises—not a single one, but many—carrying the emotions of competition, celebration, and unity. And at the center of it all stands Morocco: the host, the stage, the beating heart of this unforgettable chapter.

The voice of Idris Elba, an internationally renowned artist of African origin, enchanted the record 66,526-strong crowd attending the final, on behalf of a whole continent, paying tribute to Africa in Morocco and uttering a message of hope and brotherhood for the future of African football.

This was followed by a vibrant canvas featuring emblematic patterns and colors, then a 60-second countdown—a truly dynamic, fast-paced visual journey.

The film blends 2D animation, bright colors, iconic motifs, and rhythmic music, celebrating the spirit, unity, and creative energy of African football. It also features selected images of fans, paying tribute to the extraordinary atmosphere of this edition.

As put by le360 news outlet, the stage of the closing ceremony was a genuine work of art. Seen from above, it appears as a sculptural reinterpretation of the AFCON trophy, combining the official identity of the competition with a touch of contemporary Moroccan craftsmanship.
