UK delegation examines Moroccan sports security model during AFCON 2025

A British sports security delegation visited the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat on Wednesday as part of Morocco–UK security cooperation linked to preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, Moroccan security officials said.

The visit coincided with security arrangements for a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations semifinal, allowing the delegation to observe crowd management, policing deployment and coordination procedures overseen by Rabat police authorities.

Officials briefed the delegation on operational planning, on-site coordination between security units and the use of video surveillance systems to monitor spectator flows from arrival to departure.

Earlier in the day, the delegation visited the African Security Cooperation Centre in Salé, where Moroccan authorities outlined coordination mechanisms with African partners and representatives from Spain, Portugal, Qatar and Interpol involved in AFCON 2025 security.

The centre was presented as a joint operations platform designed to support preventive security planning during major tournaments.

Morocco is co-hosting the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal and has stepped up international cooperation on stadium safety and major event security following its hosting of AFCON 2025.
