OCP Partners with UNIDO to speed up agricultural transformation & low-carbon industrial development

Moroccan OCP Group and UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) have joined forces to advance agricultural transformation, low-carbon industrial development, digital innovation and skills development across Africa and globally.

The two partners have signed a 5-year renewable agreement to establish strategic cooperation in plant nutrition and inclusive and sustainable industrial development.

They pledged to strengthen integrated agricultural value chains and agribusiness, support green hydrogen and green ammonia development, and advance the decarbonization of industrial processes.

They also agreed to step up cooperation in Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence and the development of smart, sustainable industrial parks.

Hanane Mourchid, Chief Sustainability & Innovation Officer at OCP Group, said: “This partnership strengthens our ability to advance agricultural transformation and low-carbon industrial development, while building the skills and solutions needed for a just and sustainable transition.”

By Leveraging UNIDO’s convening role and our shared ambition, “we aim to foster resilient, inclusive growth that benefits farmers, communities, and the planet”, underlined the OCP official.

For his part, Gerd Müller, Director General of UNIDO said: “Building a world without hunger requires stronger food systems, innovation and effective partnerships with the private sector”.

“By joining forces with OCP, we can advance green industrial solutions, support climate-resilient agriculture, and expand opportunities for young people as we work toward a more sustainable future for Africa and beyond,” he added.
