Massive ecstasy seizure at Nador Port sparks police probe

Nador’s police launched an investigation on Wednesday following the discovery of 76,841 ecstasy-type psychotropic pills hidden inside a cargo vehicle that had arrived from a European port.

The seizure, carried out by National Police and Customs officers at the city’s port, prompted the Regional Judicial Police Brigade to open a probe under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, aimed at tracing the origins and destination of the illicit shipment.

According to a security source, the drugs were meticulously concealed inside boxes of food products. A 55-year-old suspect, believed to be involved in the criminal operation, was arrested.

The suspect is now under judicial inquiry, overseen by the competent prosecutor’s office, with the aim of uncovering the ins and outs of the case and identifying potential connections both inside Morocco and at international level.
