Oman reiterates support to Morocco’s territorial integrity, commends King Mohammed VI for efforts to promote peace, security in Africa

The Sultanate of Oman voiced, on Sunday, its support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its entire national territory, and commended the pioneering role played by King Mohammed VI in promoting peace, security, and stability in Africa.

This came in a joint communiqué issued at the close of the 7th Moroccan-Omani Joint Commission, held Sunday in Muscat under the co-chairmanship of the two countries’ Foreign Ministers, Nasser Bourita, and Badr Bin Hamad Bin Hamoud Al Busaidi.

In the document, Oman expressed its deep appreciation for the wisdom of the Moroccan leadership, which is committed to a peaceful solution of the Sahara issue, for the sake of security and stability in the Maghreb region.

Oman, which described the autonomy initiative put forward by the Morocco as serious and realistic, affirmed that it constitutes the basis for the settlement of the Moroccan Sahara issue.

The Sultanate of Oman also commended the pioneering role played by King Mohammed VI in strengthening the foundations of peace, security and stability across the African continent, in line with the aspirations of its peoples for progress and development.

Oman’s position affirms the regional and international recognition of the Monarch’s efforts in supporting economic and social development in Africa.

In the joint communiqué, Oman praised the continuous efforts exerted by King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the al-Quds Committee, in defending the Holy City and preserving its status and civilizational identity.

During the meeting, which provided an opportunity to assess bilateral cooperation, and exchange views on Arab, regional and international issues of common interest, the two sides voiced their shared determination to bolster cooperation in different fields, hailed the depth of the distinguished ties between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, and resolve to breathe new life into these ties at all levels and in different fields, in a “win-win” approach that will make them more deeply rooted and lasting.

Bourita seized the opportunity to invite Omani businessmen to open up more to their second country, Morocco, in order to benefit from the incentives offered by the Kingdom’s Investment Charter, as well as from investment opportunities linked to Morocco’s organization of the 2030 World Cup. He stressed in this vein the importance of forging solid relations between the two countries’ private sectors, through the activation of the Moroccan-Omani Business Council.

The 7th Moroccan-Omani Joint Commission highlighted by the signing of several agreements, MoUs, and executive programs aimed at strengthening the framework governing bilateral cooperation.

The deals cover cooperation in matters of transport and logistics, renewable energy, education, sports, digitalization, and justice.

The meeting was also marked by the signing of a MoU on the twinning between the city of Fez and the city of Nizwa.
