Nearly 1,000 athletes from 52 countries take part in 2025 Marathon des Sables

The 39th edition of the legendary Marathon Des Sables will take place in Moroccan Sahara from 4 to 14 April with the participation of nearly 1,000 athletes from 52 countries.

The 250 km-long challenging desert crossing over seven days, roughly the distance of six marathons, enables participants to test their limits, meet local inhabitants and discover their traditions.

The ultra-Sahara race includes 6 stages, which can be completed either running or walking. During this sporting adventure, participants carry all their gear and food, except for water and the tent.

After staying 1 or 2 nights at a hotel, they embark on a desert journey for 4 days of walking/running, covering 70, 100, or 120 km divided into 3 stages, with 3 or 4 nights spent in a bivouac.

Though it is the toughest footrace on earth, participants live unforgettable experience and an adventure of a lifetime with endless sand dunes, sand storms, heat, blisters & cramps.
