OCP’s Nutricorps to increase fertilizer production capacity by 9 million tons

OCP’s fertilizer maker subsidiary, Nutricorps, said it plans to increase production capacity by 9 million tons by 2028.

To that end, Nutricorps will set up new mining and industrial sites in Mzinda in Youssoufia and Meskala in Essaouira, it said in a statement.

These complexes, designed to run exclusively on renewable energies (solar and wind), and using unconventional water via desalination and wastewater treatment (WWTP), illustrate OCP Nutricrops’ commitment to sustainable and efficient production.

Nutricorps should be able to have a production capacity of 4.5 million tons next year, it said.

“These new industrial assets will become a global benchmark in the custom fertilizer sector, reflecting our commitment to meeting global agricultural challenges while offering our partners opportunities for sustainable growth” notes Youssef El Bari, CEO of OCP Nutricrops.

The investments are in line with OCP group’s plan to boost production and competitiveness while meeting its carbon neutrality target by 2040.
