Morocco’s role in education & academic cooperation within francophone space highlighted in Abidjan
Morocco’s leading role in strengthening cultural ties, promoting quality education, and fostering exemplary academic cooperation within the Francophone space was highlighted on Thursday in Abidjan.
True to its commitment to the Francophone community, the Kingdom actively works to enhance educational and cultural ties with its partners, particularly in Africa, Morocco’s ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire and vice-dean of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, Abdelmalek Kettani, said during a ceremony marking the International Day of La Francophonie.
Emphasizing the Moroccan Sovereign’s commitment to education and knowledge as the foundation of human development, and his particular interest in the African continent, Kettani noted that Morocco annually hosts thousands of Francophone students from across Africa, offering them high-quality education at prestigious universities and institutions.
“This educational cooperation, based on solidarity and knowledge-sharing, is a strategic pillar of the partnership between Morocco and Africa,” the diplomat said, adding that Morocco also contributes within the Francophonie framework to promoting the French language, cultural diversity, and inter-civilizational dialogue.
The Kingdom plays an active role in the bodies of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) and supports initiatives for literacy, vocational training, and scientific research, Kettani said.
The event was attended by Ivorian Minister of Culture and Francophonie Françoise Remark, accredited ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, civil society actors, and other dignitaries.
