Libya wants to resume direct air and maritime links with Morocco

Libya is interested in opening a direct air route and a maritime link with Morocco to boost economic ties, its transport minister Salem Al Shahboubi said.

Sahboubi made the remarks during a meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Abdessamad Kayouh on the sidelines of the 29th General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO) held recently.

Direct flights between the two countries have been suspended for security reasons since 2015.

The two ministers agreed to intensify cooperation between bilateral technical committees.

Re-establishing direct air routes will be very good news for the over 100,000 Moroccans living in Libya.
