France rejects Algeria’s accusations as ‘fanciful’

“Unfounded and fanciful.” It is in these words that French foreign minister Jean-Noël Barrot responded to lengthy and tedious accusations by an Algerian regime in disarray, blinded by Morocco-phobia and mired in conspiracy theories.

Speaking to French media, Barrot was responding to uncorroborated allegations by the Algerian regime which- through its official media and mouthpieces- accused France of fomenting a rebellion in Algeria, backing Kabyle independence group MAK, and using the media to “undermine” Algeria’s image.

These allegations were behind the summoning of the French ambassador to Algiers, Algerian mouthpiece media such as Al Moujahid reported.

Barrot confirmed the summoning and expressed full support for the French Ambassador.

Déjà vu

Algeria’s accusations against France are a déjà vu from a Moroccan or Emirati perspective.

The Algerian regime has not issued an official statement regarding the summoning last week of the French ambassador, as it continues to use its media to express conspiracy theories, attacking sovereign states using puppet media.

The same accusations of undermining national security have been beaten to death by the Algerian regime when speaking of Morocco or the UAE.

Morocco has described the allegations permeating Algeria’s unilateral decision to cut ties as “unjustified” and “absurd,” and abstained from responding to the numerous accusations that have become a national sport.

The UAE has also been accused of undermining Algeria’s security but has opted not to respond to any of the accusations of the Algerian regime through its sycophant media.

Accusing France of using its security services to smuggles arms into the country is a serious claim that is equal to a casus belli or at least a sufficient reason to cut ties.

Yet, the Algerian regime as usual talks the talk but does not walk the walk.
