Ryanair launches direct flights from Dakhla to Madrid and Lanzarote
Ryanair will connect the city of Dakhla in the Moroccan Sahara to Spanish Capital Madrid, and Lanzarote in the Canary Island.
The direct route will be opened in January 2025, under an agreement between the low-cost airline and Morocco’s tourism promotion office ONMT.
Nestled along the sun-kissed Atlantic coastline, this enchanting city has swiftly risen to fame among tourists, thanks to its pristine beaches that offer perfect waves for surfing enthusiasts.
The allure of its mild, laid-back lifestyle further enhances its charm, inviting visitors to unwind and soak in the serene ambiance. With its vibrant surf culture and welcoming community, the city has become a haven for those seeking both adventure and tranquility, making it a must-visit destination for travelers from around the globe.
Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson said these two routes are expected to boost tourist flows into the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, expressing hope that these flights will serve as a prelude to more direct flights to Dakhla
He also noted that Ryanair has made significant investments since 2006, emphasizing close cooperation with Moroccan authorities to improve air connectivity in Morocco.
These new air routes will double the current international capacity of the Dakhla airport.
The agreement between ONMT and Ryanair also provides for the launch of new air routes connecting major European cities to Dakhla airport, thus facilitating access for European tourists to this attractive destination and contributing to its development.
