Moroccan delegation attends COP29 in Baku
A Moroccan delegation, led by Head of government Aziz Akhannouch, is taking part in the 29th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan.
Upon arrival in Baku, the Moroccan delegation, which also includes Minister of Energy and Sustainable Development Leila Benali and Moroccan Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohamed Adil Embarch, was welcomed by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
The delegation visited the stands of Morocco and Azerbaijan, set within the blue zone of the Olympic Stadium in Baku, and attended briefings of the two countries’ achievements in the field of climate, particularly renewable energies.
This global summit (November 11-22) will be an opportunity to evaluate the progress made in mitigating climate change and to negotiate the best means of combating this phenomenon.
The Conference will focus primarily on climate finance, given the need to enable all countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect lives and livelihoods from the worsening effects of climate change, particularly for vulnerable communities.
