French Foreign Ministry posts Morocco’s full map on its official website
The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs posted this Tuesday on its official website Morocco’s official map, including its Sahara.
The move, reflecting the impetus given to the national cause by King Mohammed VI, coincides with the state visit President Emmanuel Macron is paying to Morocco at the head of a large delegation of governmental officials, business operators, and influential diplomats and personalities.
This decision echoes France’s backing to Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara as reaffirmed by President Macron in a speech he delivered Tuesday before the Moroccan Parliament, during the tête-à-tête talks he held in Rabat Monday with King Mohammed VI, and in the letter he had sent to the Monarch last July. President Macron actually affirmed and reaffirmed that he considers “that the present and future of Western Sahara lie within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty.”
This Foreign Ministry’s decision, which falls within the framework of the operationalization of France’s new position on the national cause, is in line with the positive momentum witnessed by the Sahara issue at the international level.
