Tripoli hosts Arab Forum for volunteering work, support of people with disabilities
Tripoli is hosting the Arab Forum for volunteering work and support of people with disabilities meant to implement an Arab strategy in these fields, especially during epidemics and crises.
The opening ceremony of the forum took place on Sunday September 22 in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, a number of Arab delegations, in addition to member of the Presidential Council, Mossa Al-Koni, and government officials.
Minister of Social Affairs, Wafaa Al-Kilani, said in an opening address that volunteers had always been in the front lines to support citizens during times of crises and epidemics, stressing that ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities is an important indicator of progress and social cohesion. She pointed out that efforts were being made to enable volunteers to provide services to the fullest extent, especially in supporting persons with disabilities.
Al-Kilani announced the launch of an initiative for effective community partnership in cooperation with civil society to enhance the role of volunteering in building a strong and cohesive society.
Dbeibah, on his part, said that Libya would not allow the emergency situations in the Arab world to break the national resolve to achieve aspirations, referring in particular to the brutal aggression of the occupying entity against the residents of the Gaza Strip.
Dbeibah stressed the aspiration to “achieve stability in the region, adhere to accomplishing progress and reconstruction, and proceed with the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan.” He noted that Libya “will always stand by the Arab and Muslim peoples and spare no effort in consolidating humanitarian work and supporting people with disabilities.”
