Morocco records first case of Monkeypox – Official
The Moroccan Ministry of Health confirmed this Thursday that a monkeypox case has been detected, as part of the national epidemiological surveillance and alert system.
The ministry explained in a statement that the case was detected in accordance with the approved health protocol, and the patient is receiving the necessary medical care in Marrakech. The patient’s condition is stable and is no cause for concern.
The statement added that health authorities have implemented strict quarantine and medical monitoring for the patient, in addition to conducting thorough epidemiological investigations to identify all contacts and take necessary preventive measures, in line with national and international standards. The ministry confirmed that no symptoms have been reported among the patient’s contacts so far.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to keeping the public updated about the epidemiological situation and urged citizens to rely on official sources for information, avoid rumors, and observe the recommended preventive measures. These include regular hand-washing, abstaining from direct contact with people infected or suspected of being infected, and ensuring personal hygiene.
