Morocco posts record blueberry exports in 2023/2024 season

Morocco posted a new blueberries export record in the 2023/2024 season at 67,300 tons, up 25% from last season, despite drought.

Spain stood as the largest destination for Moroccan blueberries with 30% of all exports, followed by the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, and France, East Fruit reported.

Morocco’s blueberries were also exported to the Gulf, the US, Canada, Honk Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia, it said.

Reports indicated that many farmers were abandoning tomatoes in favor of strawberries whose prices are much more interesting.

Blueberries have become increasingly popular worldwide due to their health benefits, including high antioxidant content.
