King Mohammed VI chairs oath-taking ceremony of graduate officers, pays tribute to his late mother, Moroccan women
King Mohammed VI chaired in Tetouan on Wednesday the oath-taking ceremony of hundreds of newly commissioned officers into the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
During the event, marking the 25th anniversary of Morocco’s Throne Day, the King, as the Supreme Commander and General Chief of Staff of the FAR, emphasized, in an address to the new graduates from the major military and paramilitary institutes and schools, announced that he decided to name this graduating class after his late mother Princess Lalla Latifa, in appreciation for all Moroccan women.
“I have decided to name your Group of Graduates after my late mother, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Latifa – may she rest in peace – in order to show my esteem and appreciation for Moroccan women, and to recognize the role they play in raising generations in keeping with good morals and with our authentic spiritual and national values,” the Monarch said.
As the new officers took their oath, the King underlined his confidence that they will fulfil their national duty with “the competence, proficiency, patriotism and commitment to the nation’s immutable values that are characteristic of our Royal Armed Force.”
“I therefore want you to live up to my expectations in terms of integrity, discipline and loyalty to your everlasting motto: God, the Homeland, the King,” the Monarch said.
During the ceremony, the King awarded stripes to newly promoted officers for the year 2024.
