Palestinian officials, personalities hail Morocco’s new medical assistance as an illustration of King’s unwavering support for Palestinian Cause

Several Palestinian officials and personalities have hailed the new medical assistance dispatched to Gaza at the instruction of King Mohammed VI, saying that this royal move illustrates again the Sovereign’s unwavering support for the Palestinian Cause.

These Palestinian officials and personalities expressed their thanks and gratitude to King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for this humanitarian medical aid, pointing out that this timely act of generosity will alleviate the urgent need for medical and first-aid products in the Gaza strip, prey to a disastrous humanitarian crisis.

king Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al Quds Committee, ordered the delivery of 40 tons of medical aid to Gaza, in solidarity with Palestinians in the war-torn strip, Morocco’s foreign ministry said in a statement Monday.

The shipment will follow the same unprecedented land route as the aid sent last March.

In March, Morocco was actually the first nation to use the Kerem Shalom border crossing to send aid to Gazans. This marked the first land breakthrough for humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip.
As put by Director of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Omar al-Kiswani, the delivery of this aid by land is of utmost importance in these circumstances, marked by escalation and obstacles to the entry of humanitarian aid. This testifies to the King’s personal commitment to the smooth running of this operation, he underlined.

The delivery of the aid by land illustrates the respect and high esteem enjoyed by the Sovereign, said for his pat Director of the Al-Quds Center for Economic and Social Rights, Ziad Al-Hamouri.

This humanitarian aid will alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians, all the more so, as all the crossing points leading to the Gaza Strip are subject to a total blockade, which has had a negative impact on the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid, Ziad Al-Hamouri said.

Morocco’s new assistance consists of 40 tons of medical products, in particular, equipment for treating burns and surgical and traumatological emergencies, as well as essential medicines, the Moroccan Foreign Ministry said adding that the King paid for a large portion of the aid.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) welcomed this new royal initiative as it will alleviate, it said, the suffering of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip at this critical time when the few remaining hospitals in Gaza are suffering from a crying lack of medical products and medicines.

The shipment by Morocco of 40 tons of medicines and medical products comes at a time when the medical sector in the Gaza Strip is on the verge of collapse due to the scarcity of medical products and drugs, especially after the occupier closed the Rafah land crossing more than 40 days ago, Nebal Farsakh, PRCS spokesperson, said, noting that since this closure, no medical aid has been delivered.

The aid from the Kingdom of Morocco will boost the performance of the few hospitals still operating in the Gaza Strip and improve their efficiency, allowing them to continue providing the health and medical services needed to save lives.

Farsakh emphasized that the PRCS teams will transport aid to the Gaza Strip and then distribute it to medical service providers and public hospitals, including the Red Crescent hospitals in Khan Younès and Al Amal, as well as to medical points throughout the Strip.

Many other officials, including Palestinian Minister of Jerusalem Affairs, Ashraf Al Aawar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al Azhar University in Gaza, Khalil Abou Foul, President of the Palestinian-Moroccan Friendship Association, Ziyad Al Jaabari, Director of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Omar al-Kiswani, Archbishop Atallah Hanna, Head of the Sebastia Diocese of the Greek Orthodox Church in Al-Quds, and others have all expressed thanks and gratitude to the Sovereign for his noble gesture and genuine human values and commended Morocco for having always been at the forefront of support for Palestine.

They stressed Morocco’s unwavering support for the Palestinians, as evidenced by the deployment of military field hospitals, and the supply of humanitarian and medical aid to the Palestinian people on several occasions.

They likewise praised the key role of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al Quds Committee, and the laudable actions of Bayt Mal Al Quds Acharif Agency to strengthen the resistance of Al Quds population, through projects targeting several sectors such as education and health, which contribute positively and effectively to maintain services of several institutions in the Holy City.
