Wanted Danish national arrested in Casablanca

A Danish national, subject of an international arrest warrant, was arrested in Casablanca Thursday by Members of the National Brigade of Judicial Police (BNPJ). The arrest warrant was issued by Danish judicial authorities in a voluntary manslaughter case against the backdrop of scores settling between international drug trafficking networks, a security source said.

A check against the Interpol database revealed that the suspect, 32, was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the Danish judicial authorities, according to the same source. A prison sentence was handed to the suspect for involvement in the case of voluntary manslaughter.

Searches also led to the seizure of a quantity of cannabis and a falsified German passport bearing his personal photograph and a false identity.

The suspect was placed in police custody. Interpol National Central Bureau in Rabat will inform its counterpart in Denmark of the arrest operation.

The arrest of the Danish suspect is part of international cooperation in the security field and the efforts made by the services of Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) to apprehend people wanted internationally in cases linked to transnational crime.
