Morocco: Another strike against terrorists affiliated to the Daesh
Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) dismantled, on Tuesday morning, a terrorist cell affiliated to the “Daesh” organization, whose members were active in the cities of Tiznit and Sidi Slimane.
This large-scale security operation carried out by elements of the special force of the rapid intervention Brigade led to the arrest of 4 extremists, aged between 22 and 44, according to a statement by BCIJ, an offshoot of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
Searches carried out at the homes of the suspects led to the seizure of paramilitary equipment, including a tactical vest, a helmet, and a balaclava, in addition to extremist manuscripts and a set of electronic media which will be subjected to the necessary digital expertise, the statement said.
Initial investigations have revealed that the members of this terrorist cell have engaged in suspicious operations, with a view to mobilizing the financial resources and logistical support needed to carry out terrorist plots in the Kingdom with a view to undermining public order.
The suspects arrested in connection with this terrorist cell have been placed under custody for further investigation to identify all their terrorist plans and projects, and elucidate the ramifications and possible links of this terrorist cell, which once again demonstrates the resurgence of terrorist threats, the statement said.
This operation is part of Morocco’s sustained efforts to confront the dangers of violent extremism and counter terrorist threats to the safety of the Kingdom and the security of its citizens.
