Air France loses €65 million after being chased from Sahel

Air France has lost up to 65 million euros after its business in the Sahel was disrupted by a ban by coup countries: Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.

The ban has forced the French carrier to direct its routes to central Africa with the announcement of a partnership with Afrijet, a Gabonese airline, la Nouvelle Tribune reported.

The partnership with Afrijet means that Libreville would serve as a new hub for Air France in central Africa.

Air France, the fifth largest globally by financial performance, serves 189 destinations in 74 countries with increased investments to boost connections with Canada and Asia this summer.

France and its companies have lost their influence in the Sahel where military rulers have asked French troops to leave their countries along with some key French companies as the anti-western sentiment grows.
