Royal initiative to send humanitarian aid to Gaza & Al Quds largely commented by international media

The successful humanitarian operation launched by King Mohammed VI to alleviate the sufferings of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and Al Quds, reeling under inhuman Israeli siege, made the headlines of international media.

Forty tons of foodstuffs and basic products were sent on Tuesday to Palestinians upon the instructions of King Mohammed VI, chairman of Al Quds Committee. A large part of the aid sent to Palestinian babies and young children was paid by the King’s own money.

The royal initiative was thus largely relayed and commented by African, Arab, and European media, including in Senegal, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Guinea, and Gabon; in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and Yemen, as well as in Türkiye and several European countries. These media note that this humanitarian gesture towards the Palestinians crowns a long tradition of solidarity rooted in Morocco’s approach to the Palestinian issue.

Remaining faithful to its tradition of solidarity with the Palestinians, Morocco has initiated a food distribution operation to alleviate the suffering of the people of the Gaza Strip, who are enduring “deplorable conditions” at the start of the month of Ramadan, the African and Arab media pointed out, noting that Morocco was the first country to utilize this unprecedented overland route to deliver its humanitarian aid directly to the beneficiaries.

Since the beginning of the armed hostilities over five months ago, Morocco has been the first country to transport humanitarian aid by land to deliver it directly to the beneficiaries.

Humanitarian aid is arriving in Gaza for the first time in about five months by land, the media emphasized.

The international media also highlighted the “personal commitment” of the King to the success of this operation. As put by Paris-based Jeune Afrique magazine the direct delivery of aid to the affected populations is an “unprecedented act” since the beginning of the conflict on October 7.

In this connection, French Le Monde daily wrote that the announcement of the Kingdom’s sending of aid by land comes at a time when “the international community is pressuring to diversify the routes for delivering aid to the territory on the brink of famine.” “Morocco is the first country to transport its humanitarian aid through this unprecedented land route,” the daily stated.
The aid was transported by plane from Morocco, then transferred to trucks of the Palestinian Red Crescent to be distributed in Gaza and the Holy City of Al-Quds.

In addition to institutional aid, notably through the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, King Mohammed VI personally covered a large part of the aid, particularly for infants and young children, Sky News Arabia reported, noting that since the outbreak of armed hostilities more than five months ago, Morocco is the first country to transport its humanitarian aid through this unprecedented land route, directly delivering the assistance to the targeted beneficiaries.

King Mohammed VI, as President of the Al-Qods Committee, “reaffirms his constant and historical support for the Palestinian cause through this initiative which coincides with the beginning of Ramadan,” wrote “Atalayar” magazine, specializing in Maghreb affairs.

The aid ordered by the King is part of a long tradition of active and concrete solidarity with Palestine and is in continuity with the royal solicitude towards the Palestinian people, the publication noted, highlighting the Sovereign’s positions and initiatives in support of the Palestinian cause and people.
