Morocco’s humanitarian aid to Gaza & Al Quds prompts worldwide praise
Several influential law-makers, experts and officials from Palestine, Europe, Africa, and the United States have lauded the successful humanitarian operation launched by King Mohammed VI, via a land route, to alleviate the sufferings of Palestinians in Gaza and Al Quds, reeling under inhuman Israeli siege.
Forty tons of foodstuffs and basic products were sent Tuesday to Palestinians upon the instructions of King Mohammed VI, chairman of Al Quds Committee. A large part of the aid sent to Palestinian babies and young children was paid by the King from his personal funds.
Palestinian Minister of Women’s Affairs Amal Hamad thanked the Moroccan Sovereign for his generosity, solidarity, and unwavering support for the Palestinian people and Palestinian cause.
President of the Paris-based Arab World Institute, Jack Lang, paid tribute to the Royal initiative which coincides with the start of the holy month of Ramadan, saying it is an act of “immense generosity” which demonstrates the Moroccan Sovereign’s personal commitment to the Palestinian people.
“We would like this unique example to inspire other Heads of State around the world,” said Lang, affirming that he was touched by the kindness and humanity of the Monarch.
President of U.S. Global Policy Institute, Paolo von Schirach, said that the royal humanitarian operation shows the Monarch’s strong solidarity with the Palestinian people, especially the most venerable.
This initiative is a humanitarian effort launched on the ground to ease the sufferings of Palestinian people, added Head of the Washington-based institute.
Several members of the European Parliament, including MEPs Tomáš Zdechovský and Ilhan Kyuchyuk, described Morocco’s Aid to Palestine as a ‘historic gesture’ stemming from the King’s humanitarian commitment, saying the move shows the important role played by Al Quds Committee.
They also highlighted the timing of this strategic humanitarian operation that brought urgent needed relief to Gazans with the start of the Holy month of Ramadan.
President of the Moroccan-Spanish Studies Center Miguel Ángel Puyol García said the Moroccan aid is another proof of the “firm and continuous” commitment of the Sovereign and the Moroccan people to the Palestinian cause.
King Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al-Quds Committee, continues to provide support to the Palestinians and works tirelessly for a fair and lasting peace in the region, added Mr. Puyol García.
President of AU’s Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC), Khalid Boudali, thanked the King and the Moroccan people for their exceptional humanitarian gesture, which reflects the Kingdom’s firm engagement for regional peace and solidarity.
The Royal initiative, which comes amid hostilities in Gaza, stands out as a beacon of hope, showing Morocco’s tangible support for the Palestinian people during a challenging time, added Mr. Boudali.
Regional director of the Dakar-based Timbuktu Institute, Bakkary Sambe, commended the land humanitarian operation launched to save lives in Gaza and Al Quds, describing the move as an “unprecedented”. The move confirms Morocco’s King attachment to the protection of Palestinians and the sacred status of the Holy City, underlined the Senegalese researcher.
From Tunis, political analyst and former CEO of the Tunisian news agency (TAP), Mohamed Nejib Ouerghi, said “Morocco’s commitment alongside the Palestinian people is hardly surprising; it is inherent in the constants of the Kingdom’s policy marked by its concrete nature and suffers neither from confusion nor from sterile escalation.”
This gesture reflects the King’s solicitude towards the Palestinian people and the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to the victims of a complex situation, he said, adding that thanks to this move, Morocco combines words with actions and provides tangible proof of its ability to break new ground and brave difficulties to achieve the set objectives, by conducting this unprecedented operation to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.
The consistency of Moroccan humanitarian support and the method chosen for its delivery fully demonstrate the humanitarian dimension that has always characterized the approach advocated by the Kingdom when it comes to assisting vulnerable or disaster-stricken populations, Ouerghi argued.
Former US ambassador to Rabat David T. Fischer on his part took to his X account to commend Morocco’s humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza and Al Quds via land routes.
