One of the most dangerous French drug traffickers arrested in Casablanca, France thanks Morocco

One of the most dangerous French drug traffickers, Félix Bingui, was arrested on March 8, 2024, in Casablanca by members of the investigation and intervention department of the National Judicial Police Brigade (BNPJ).

The 34-year-old French national, who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by French authorities in connection with criminal networks involved in international drug trafficking and money laundering, was arrested in Casablanca by elements of the BNPJ after a series of investigations to determine his whereabouts, the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) said in a press release. The man was placed in custody pending his extradition to France, the DGSN said.

The arrest of Félix Bingui, the leader of a dangerous Marseille mafia clan and one of the biggest French drug traffickers, was described by French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin as dealing a major blow to narco-banditry “thanks to cooperation with Moroccan authorities” to whom he expressed his thanks.

“One of the most notorious drug lords in Marseille was arrested in Morocco. Congratulations to the policemen who spare no effort in combating drug trafficking. A major blow has been dealt today to drug gangs thanks to our cooperation with Moroccan authorities whom I thank,” Gérald Darmanin wrote on X.

Bingui’s clan has been fighting another gang DZ Mafia that wreaked havoc in Marseille, leaving at least 49 people dead and 123 injured in violent attacks to control territory.

Morocco had extradited in 2023 another notorious drug trafficker Karim Harrat, known as Rantanplan.

And as part of security cooperation between Morocco and France, Gérald Darmanin is expected in Rabat this March for talks with his Moroccan peer.

In another press release, the DGSN announced this Sunday the arrest in Dakhla of an Estonian woman, wanted by Interpol for homicide.

The regional judicial police of Dakhla, in collaboration with its counterpart in Laâyoune, arrested on Saturday evening an Estonian national wanted by Interpol, the DGSN said.

The suspect, aged 31, was sought by Interpol at the request of Estonian judicial authorities. Wanted under a red notice, she is allegedly involved in a case of voluntary homicide.

The woman was placed in custody pending her extradition to Estonia, the DGSN said.

These arrests are the culmination of security cooperation and intelligence exchange between the DGSN and its international partners , in line with international cooperation mechanisms in the security field.
