OIC hails support of Al-Quds Committee, chaired by Morocco’s King, to counter Israel’s judaization policy

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has paid tribute to the support provided by Al-Quds Committee, chaired by King Mohammed VI, to counter Israel’s judaization policies carried out in Al Quds al-Sharif in a bid to alter the identity and legal status of the Holy City, and its demographic, cultural and historical characteristics.

During its extraordinary ministerial meeting held Tuesday in Jeddah to discuss the situation in Gaza and Rafah, the OIC Council of foreign ministers hailed the contribution of Bayt Mal Al-Quds al-Sharif Agency and its efforts to protect the Holy City, to support the resistance of Palestinians on their lands through the implementation of social and cultural programs.

Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita, who took part in the OIC Jeddah meeting, reaffirmed Rabat’s full solidarity and support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and the establishment of their independent State on the borders of June 4, 1967 with Al Quds-East as capital in line with the two-State solution supported by the international community.

He deplored the bloody and appalling events in the Palestinian territories, saying that Palestinian civilians are deprived of all means of survival because of the daily Israeli military attacks.

The Israeli military escalation and policy of collective sanctions against Palestinians violate human rights, the international and humanitarian laws, said the minister, warning that this unprecedented catastrophic humanitarian situation and deadly cycle of violence will affect all peoples of the region.

To reach appeasement and end bloodshed, he cited the message sent by Moroccan King to the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit, held last November in Riyadh.

In this message, Morocco had called for urgent and tangible de-escalation to pave the way for a permanent ceasefire, ensuring the protection of civilians, and allowing the delivery of humanitarian aid, in sufficient quantities, to the inhabitants of Gaza.

The royal message had also insisted on maintaining the role of UNRWA and launching serious negotiations to achieve the two-state solution, supported by the international community.

In his speech made at the OIC ministerial meeting, Bourita said the expansion of Israeli military operations will only worsen further humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, leading to more deportations and massacres of civilians.

On the eve of the holy month of Ramadan, the minister urged Israeli authorities to guarantee freedom of access and prayer in Al Aqsa Mosque, cease provocations against Palestinians and respect freedom of worship in Al Quds al-Sharif.
