Morocco, ‘Beacon of Security & Cooperation in the Region’ – US AFRICOM Commander

Morocco stands as a “beacon of security and cooperation in the region”, U.S. Marine Corps General Michael Langley, AFRICOM Commander, said Wednesday in Rabat.

“It is an honor to have been hosted by a nation that stands as a beacon of security and cooperation in the region”, the US military official told the press following his talks with officials from the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).

“Morocco’s commitment to regional stability is exemplary, and its leadership in fostering security cooperation is unparalleled”, he underlined, highlighting the “robust military partnership” between the United States and Morocco, which is a “testament to our shared values and dedication to peace and prosperity.”

“Through years of collaboration and joint efforts, our relationship has only strengthened”, he said, underlining that the “solid bond” between the Moroccan military and U.S. Africa Command serves as a “cornerstone for stability in the region”.

The US military official who recalling that Morocco’s hospitality has extended to hosting major military exercises, such as African Lion, the largest joint military exercise in Africa, noted that “these exercises not only enhance our military capabilities but also reinforce our shared commitment to collective security.”

U.S. Marine Corps General Michael Langley said, when tackling future cooperation prospects, he is confident that bilateral partnership “will continue to thrive and grow.”

“Together, we will work hand in hand to confront the challenges that lie ahead and to build a more secure and prosperous future for all,” he said, extending his thanks to Morocco, for its “unwavering commitment to peace, security and cooperation” and its “leadership that sets a shining example for the entire region”.

The four-star general held separate meetings, on Wednesday, with Minister in charge of National Defense Administration, bdeltif Loudyi, and Inspector General of FAR and Commander of the South Zone, Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid.

During the talks, which were attended by US Ambassador to Rabat, Puneet Talwar, both parties particularly noted the excellent relations between the Royal Armed Forces and the US army which are reflected in intense and regular cooperation activities.

Their military cooperation has been consolidated by the contributions of the roadmap for defense cooperation 2020-2030.
