AfDB to hold Annual Meetings in Nairobi May 27-31

The African Development Bank, AfDB, will hold its 59th annual meetings this year in Nairobi from May 27 to 31, the Abidjan-based lender has announced.

Topics to be addressed include the lack of climate finance for African priorities and the high cost of capital to invest in sustainable infrastructure for green growth and a just energy transition.

The theme chosen for this year is: “Africa’s Transformation, African Development Bank Group, and Reforms of the Global Financial Architecture.”

The annual meetings provide an opportunity for reflecting on the bank’s commitment to accomplish its mission of developing the African continent and improving the lives of its people.

The gatherings will feature statutory meetings of its Governors (Finance ministers or Central bank governors representing the 81 member countries) and knowledge events. Attendees will include representatives of bilateral and multilateral development agencies, leading academics and non-governmental organizations, civil society, and the private sector.

‘Kenyatta International Conference Center’ chosen as venue for the meetings will also host the 50th Meeting of the Board of Governors of the African Development Fund.
The Fund is the concessional arm of the Bank Group.
