Russian-Arab ministers laud Morocco’s King role in defending Jerusalem
The Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum, held in Marrakech at the foreign ministers’ level, welcomed the key role played by King Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al Quds committee, in safeguarding the city of Jerusalem and supporting its people.
The forum “supports the role of the presidency of the Jerusalem Committee and its efforts to counter the practices of the occupying authorities in the Holy City, and support the resilience of Jerusalem and Jerusalemites through the programs and projects of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency,” reads the joint statement.
The Russian and Arab ministers also lauded Morocco’s leadership and efforts to settle a set of Arab issues, including the crisis in Libya. The final declaration “emphasizes the principle of Libyan ownership of the political process, and commit to the Libyan Political Agreement signed in Skhirat in 2015.
Regarding Morocco’s role in countering terrorism, the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum welcomed the hosting of the Kingdom of the 93rd session of the General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in Marrakech in 2025, as well as the hosting of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism.
It also valued the kingdom’s role and efforts during the chairmanship of the Global Counter-Terrorism Forum (2021-2023).
In addition, the Forum welcomed the outcomes of the annual meetings of the World bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, which were held in Marrakech on October 9-15, 2023, especially those related to financing climate activities and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Finally, the Arab and Russian Foreign ministers welcomed the choice of the Kingdom of Morocco to host the 2030 Football World Cup.
