Morocco: EBRD lends €12 Mln to Guelmim-Oued Noun Saharan Region for water project

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a €12 million loan for Guelmim-Oued Noun Saharan region to enable it improve drinking water supply for households in rural areas.

The funding will also help the Guelmim province upgrade four existing Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTPs). the recycling water is used in community gardening, says the European Bank in a press release.

The EBRD financial support will help the Moroccan Saharan region reduce climate impacts, guarantee water security, and promote circular economy as an effective framework for sustainable water management.

The project will also address regional disparities in human capital development by increasing access to water and wastewater services to households living in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region which will join EBRD Green Cities program and action plan.
