Expulsion of SADR from AU: 24 signatories of Tangiers Appeal reiterate their call
The signatories of the Tangier Appeal, urging the African Union (AU) to expel the self-proclaimed “SADR” from the Union, have reiterated their urgent call to the African Heads of State to eject the Algeria-backed puppet undermining the AU credibility.
After their follow-up meeting held Friday in Tangier, Northern Morocco, on the sidelines of the MEDays Forum 2023, twenty-three African politicians, including former Prime Ministers and ex-Foreign ministers said the so-called “Republic” lacks the legal requirements and conditions of Statehood and should be removed from the African Union.
In their joint press release, the signatories said “this anomaly must be corrected quickly to avoid the balkanization of our countries in Africa”, pledging to continue their campaign pressing the African Heads of state to get rid of a phantom entity which has become a liability.
The signatories represent Guinea-Bissau, Djibouti, Central African Republic, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Eswatini, Benin, Comoro Islands, Liberia, Gabon, Malawi, Cape Verde, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Kenya, Gambia, Lesotho, Madagascar, Sierra Leone, Sao Tome & Principe; Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal.
They reiterated call for the expulsion of the pseudo-SADR from the AU which becomes handicapped by the presence of a separatist proxy that lacks all the attributes of a sovereign state.
Two major international events were put off lately sine die to avoid Polisario’s attendance and political crisis. First Saudi Arabia had to cancel its summit with the African Union, followed by a similar decision from the EU.
Global powers such as the United States, Russia, China, France, Japan, and South Korea reject Polisario’s presence in their African summits.
