Tunisia: 12-member terror cell ‘preparing attacks’ dismantled in Zaghouan

Tunisian counterterrorism security forces arrested Tuesday October 24 in Zaghouan governorate 12 men forming a terror cell allegedly preparing terror attacks in the North African country.

The home security directorate said in a statement that the men, Salafists from El Fahs, who have been under surveillance, used to meet repeatedly and secretly. The cell members were allegedly preparing to carry out attacks in the country, the security institution added.

The security forces, the directorate added, seized cells phones, laptops as well as electronic gadgets during the arrest operation. The alleged terrorists have been handed over to the judiciary which ordered their detention for terrorism.

Tunisia since 2015 has been under State of emergency in the wake of a string of terror attacks in 2015 that claimed the lives of dozens of people mainly foreign tourists.
