Morocco to build $500 mln stadium near Casablanca ahead of World Cup

Morocco is preparing to host the 2025 African Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup by building a new stadium worth 500 million dollars and renovating six other stadiums.

In implementation of King’s instructions, head of the government Aziz Akhannouch chaired a signing ceremony with CDG investment fund which will finance the projects.

In this regard, Morocco plans to build a large stadium in Benslimane, near Casablanca to be ready by 2028.

The six stadiums that will benefit from a facelift are located in Tangier, Casablanca, Rabat, Agadir, Marrakech, and Fez.

At a first stage, these six stadiums will undergo an upgrade up to CAF standards to host the 2025 African cup of nations for a total cost of 9.5 billion dirhams.

The next phase will focus on bringing these stadiums up to FIFA standards by 2028 for a total cost of up to 6 billion dirhams.
