WAPPP, WAIPA poised to back Togo in luring private investment

The World Association of PPP Units & PPP Professionals (WAPPP) and the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) are keen to help Togo attract private investment to finance its development, both organizations said during a meeting with the country’s leader Faure Gnassigbe, on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi World Investment Forum.
Ziad Hayek, President of WAPPP, met with the Togolese leader and pledged his organization’s keenness to help the West African country attract private investors for the establishment of social infrastructure.
“We’ll see how our association can help the country move forward with these projects of interest to global investors”, Hayek told the office of the Togolese leader.
WAPPP, according to its website, is home for Public-Private Partnership professionals from Public-Private Partnership units. Based in Geneva, WAPPP is a non-governmental organization that encompasses infrastructure agencies, long term investors and PPP consultants from around the globe.
WAIPA on the other hand also vowed to look into partnership deals with the African country.
“We shared some examples from different parts of the world. It’s a commitment that’s only just begun, and we’ll be working over the coming months to make Togo a wonderful place to do business, with more investment,” Dushyant Thakor, the Deputy Executive Director told the office of the Togolese leader.
WAIPA, also based in Geneva, boasts itself as the premier organization that supports, gathers, and connects worldwide Investment promotion agencies (IPAs).
Founded in 1955 by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and 50 other IPAs, the non-governmental organization is made of international organizations, multilateral agencies or other non-governmental organizations, Think tanks, consultancies and universities.
